7 Points Checklists every upcoming artist should: Tick after the Show/ event

1 How did I perform today?

It’s important to rate yourself say out of 10, when below 5 is bad and above is great why this is important? So that you will see where you need to improve because if you do an average performance consistently promoters will notice and see that’s they don’t get return on their investment and stop inviting you to their shows. So you need to take responsibility of your performance, don’t make excuses like I performed after so and so that’s why or that’s was a gqom fans and I do hip hop, it’s really doesn’t matter if you did your best people would’ve interacted with you. So this is the 1st point you need to tick on your list. Just to add if you can do this to almost everything you do, you will see your performance will improve and most of the things you do will have a massive payoff.

I want to emphasize this , cause music artists make this mistake never take any performance for granted or want unnecessary special treatment in other events ,instead of doing what’s you came to do ,event come to a standstill because you are about to perform ,No please be organized and try to keep the party and fun going ,Lastly when you are starting to get paid for your gigs or becoming well known be human ,don’t make face at your deejay when he makes mistakes but help him out by filling the gaps ,I repeat don’t rush to perform and take your money and leave if you going to be a celebrity get used to having your life celebrated know there will be time for pictures with people and network but more about that’s on the following points

2. What’s Valuable contact did I make today?

Let’s assume as of reading this article you are a solo artist or a band but you don’t have a manager, who will pull strings for you or maybe there are acts you will see and like to work with , a photographer maybe see if you play your cards rights you can build the whole team along the way so take numbers and use them from social media , but in real life their more effective I might have said this before but we did a huge song with Shon G , we met once after a while wishing to work with him as he is a legend in KZN and my dream became a reality and bonus was seeing the guy making this song as his number 1 song. SO don’t be scared of talking to people most of them will be nice to you, use your past hustle to make them interested but please don’t make empty promises, that’s your reputation.

3. Who killed the crowd and how?

Tick the best performers, of the day and every time you attend even yourself if you did a great job that’s day. We not say copy their moves but energy wise, microphone techniques and how they approach a stage just take note more than turning to being a fan yourself. Maybe he has a Dj that’s do amazing things and maybe you don’t have a Dj and you always use your friend or something get professional and even help the Dj you use get paid because he is part of your crew, add dancers and all or eventually people will realize you are a fraud and stop booking you, so be real and treat yourself as such. Please while taking notes realize if your style is not like of someone mainstream too much like when you on stage instead of people appreciating your craft ,they might say things like ,you like so and so .That’s normally not a great compliment because that’s artist is outshining you. I know being an artist is being creative and others go overboard and do crazy things while on stage that’s fine if its compliments the songs and all but check if you not making fool of yourself and if there’s connection in what’s you do.

4. Are you’re Lyrics and sing along catchy?

You are trying to get people to say something and it’s too complex and deep down fans are asking are you out of your mind we are not you loll , look I’m not discouraging here see Bhut Tizozo is a master of this all his verses really interact with a crowd so pay attention to people like that’s. And to have an advantage like other big artists make your song famous, don’t ask us how we have a small book out there on Amazon store check it out titled MUSIC INSIDER by ULwaz No Makhula its has all the contacts and we will update it soon because we are also planning to be heard on radio ASAP. SO back to the point, check if what’s you ask people to say is easy, and in what’s I have touched above the stage approach, if you can find a way to take fans by surprise in your performance and introduce yourself within your set without cutting off the sound and make that’s awkward moment that’s will be a big up.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

5. Did I leave any impression?

This one works well when there is media, but any attention and grand act you can do to be not forgotten after that’s event is important, just leave your mark and plan it if necessary its can be anything ,but nothing too controversial . E.g. if you sing a love song try to get a lady to join you on stage, move within the crowd if the microphone unless someone do that’s 1st or just kill a crowd the usual way you do. Making an example with Malwazela he’s not famous but when you put him on stage he leaves impression and that’s why it’s easy for me to remember him ,and Merel the guy never miss a bar and always uses his language isiZulu but anyone can feel his energy in KZN he is the best performer and he doesn’t force a thing ,he prepares well his sets are always on point.

6.  How do I actually look?

Dress code, very important groups have an advantage when it comes to this but you too can have a way to look and have it match your stage performance,if you perform crap dress accordingly loll  just kidding but serious dress to kill man and that’s will be your 1st impression ,ULwaz No Makhula it’s the only thing that’s usually make them stand out how they present themselves. We go to guys and pay for cloths with names written what we are pushing at the moment. In Hip hop some rappers can be dirty and that’s not how it’s supposed to be as an artist you should try by all means to look apart because you at work so treat it as such. Here what’s this does for you people take you seriously for us its came to the point where people knew we are charge for our performances because we invest so much in our brand ,clothes ,photo shoots ,music videos and 10000s  posts so people know this guys are working. So after every show look at yourself were you the artist you will be happy to meet and give a hug too or you were just a normal dirty person who can sing.

Example of lists

7. How long did I stay on stage?

Here in South Africa you not given much time on stage, in Durban particularly you don’t need much time because you can end up ruining your own performance unless it’s a one man show. Don’t over perform set a reasonable 10 to 15 minutes and do your thing , 2 tracks if there is a big lineup is enough and think for your fellow artists as well and I want to say this try to be open to other artists at least greet them ,you are a family not a competition necessarily you just happen to fight for the same bookings but features and all should be in place so ,not connecting with people is really a handicap everyone should work on in this internet age of social media and earphones, people make things happen for you so try to get along with them into a certain extent. So don’t waste other Dj time when they want to put their set ,bab uMjay from Eyadini call it umona when Deejays do this so please if you read our content please don’t disappoint us.

Well this is it for today you made a great investment and learning this things ,apart from stage fright you will be fine and this is our good byes see you tomorrow on LnM. Thank you.

5 Reason’s why Artists don’t share information and contacts.

Angsaboni kodwa kummnandi , Hi there and welcome back to our interesting website that is slowly growing in Popularity .That’s means we are  doing something important….

Yes indeed and this is our 8th post ,just eight …this Blog is for Music artists , Aspiring Celebrities and anyone who can connect the dots because as anything Music is business so our information may be relevant to what’s you trying to do. So don’t move “follow to our blog and tell us if we are getting out of line in our comments.

In KwaZulu Natal we are seeing something interesting happening in the hip hop space people from the same township are getting deals and going mainstream. But in Qgom and Amapiano and other genre is pure mystery whose next. So why in our township we call it ukvalelana the why we hold info and contacts that we should be sharing, here are 5 points we think why.

  • 1 We gave you the knowledge before and you didn’t use it.

1st of all internet has made everything to be a plain field its either you teach yourself and make your own contacts or bother people who you make them to stop giving you information in the 1st place.

We tell people what’s we know we even doing it right now and they digest the knowledge no action because ,every time they see our moves they envy us and not in a bad way but when its comes time for them to putting the time and work and do what’s we told them they don’t.

There is this Events movement ULwaz is part of called FS Tour where we give artists the platform to perform with my other business friend Dj 2five. We tell artists come to the open mic 1st then if you did well we will put you next time they don’t come and if you put them on the line up they push the poster as if they have made it and still not come what’s do you call that mnganam?

  • 2 We feel threatened by what’s they might do with the contacts and powerful tunnels.

He might be smart and hard work me.

Maybe if I give him Dj Tiras number he will get a deal and be popular than me.

His team is dangerous they will take over if I tell them how to submit on tv.

But we all family why we are threaten by each other , you might say people does not appreciate , Ill object don’t help for praise do it for your good Karma . so that the second point syasabana.

  • 3 Artists don’t share anything because they think music is a competition.

We don’t care how you see it, that pure greedy we don’t know what’s celebs do with their success but I see great collabos which means mainstream is a great striving environment ,then what’s happening underground in SA or maybe in the world why artists find it hard to do features. I’m guilty too we think further if we will be reject by that person or maybe he’ll want money , if you see his value yourl need to pay that and I’m sure its won’t be much because he’s still struggling as well.

Advice compete with yourself and become the best version of your yesterday its might’s be said in other channels its applies here very well. Look what’s if you beat your 10 years ago hustle is isn’t that self competition .Our friendship is way strong than years ago .So Pay attention on you and define the rules of the game .push through the barrier of their are closing on us. Dj Melon once said at other conference Eyadini if oTira bekvalela try another path there are lot of paths but don’t bad mouth the big dogs of the game you will get really crushed it’s like that in every industry .in Business you can’t mess with Bill Gate and think you going to get away with it by the way I have so much respect for this people let’s move one hope you get the point.

  • 4 We think we better than one another “Ego”

WE not expert but we slowly becoming ones , the key we humble ourselves we have to in fact everyone has to course life is full of surprises. Ego is not totally a bad thing that what’s drives our ambitions but we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves to think we are better than other people .Hes Weak or their sound is terrible, He using me all of that we need to use each other to move forward and basically let’s not look at one another as wanting to make a little cash off one another that strategy doesn’t work. From Experience ULwaz No Makhula has learnt to process their music because some other producers push money forward and deliver poor quality and that messes with what’s we trying to do. Doing things ourselves is not efficient that why we release once after every 3 months we want the best for our fans ,if we were pushed by ego we would’ve miss the process and never go anywhere . Now we trying our luck with youtube because we feel there is a need for this.

  • 5 We dont trust a person needing the contact.

So since we know each other ,you know someone’s attitude and behavior so if I give him Oskido number he’ll start by saying he got it from me then nag him no I rather not. I Our days its open as I said you get anything on the internet sometimes this people answers the inbox Makhula has talked with some serious people. He was just not ready so learn from our mistake before you reach out to someone make sure the song is master artwork is ready too. Maybe even a Music Video.  You might not trust yourself “what’s I going to say” now you see with or without contacts you don’t have a approach if you have it is a bad one.

I have learned from watching videos here that you need to be creative when trying to network with people think out of the box , send him or her a video clip with a cute baby by your side tell that baby to say my dad is only asking for one shot please, please, please .or anything yourl see. And if it happens someone trusted you with the contact and tell you don’t say you got it from him, you need to respect that and think of something to get your way. In the long run you should never forget that person while its will be good for him too to not act like you owe each other.

Now it’s that moment where we should love you and leave you. But we might have enough content for you to check out and learn more about music and how to operate within it. If you liked this episode give us a like and most importantly subscribe so one day Youtube will see us and give us what’s we deserve ,that the best way to support our channel and lastly press that notification bell…if you seeing this video elsewhere we are ULwaz No Makhula in all socials….you know the Bonus

  • 6 Artists don’t have any information they’re winging it.

I’m sure you are puzzled with this very last point but it’s true , Jayz didn’t know what’s he was doing he learn along the way that why it’s important to read books and hustle I know he claims not to be well read but I know that not true .most of artists don’t know what’s they should do even when we respect them. You should be encouraged by this point and move with a blind faith you will grown although the data will come incrementally its will add up and make the difference and eventually you will find yourself doing well than others. Other artists has managers who literally runs their life especially business life and sometimes its better to be in control as an artist than to have someone planning your whole move maybe in the later stage when the work load is too much .but earlier on learn in and out buy yourself. Don’t miss the chance to scale to deals are just that scale and yourl never starve again even if the contract is over you will still be a celebrity and it’s shouldn’t be too long to be independent again….

Thanks you very much salute.
