We live in a consumer society and as people we want to own everything under the sun but that’s might affect you badly if you want to keep up with the Jones while you at the bottom class. This is not a minimalist message or cut coupon kind of information but its common sense that’s we can all relate to.
This is financial but its inspired by emotional attachment from other people, today I went to clinic and there was a real cue there and I saw people waiting hours and I was one of them for that’s service but what’s was really mind blowing was seeing youth wearing $1000 / R1000 sneaker but using public healthcare, my math says I rather go to a doctor and pay a little bit and don’t own expensive sneaker and get my time back. Let’s get this into point form.
Low prices beats – Spliff_Fm
Dstv or subscription cable TV
Paying premium on entertainment is for rich people say double digit millionaire who can pay for the whole year without a blank. But rarely you will see this people do that’s because they encourage reading books and a bit of balance of the entertainment for their kids. Now getting back to us ,if money is important to you ,you know R100 per month is R1200 per year that’s 12 000 in 10 years instead you can have a TV with Ariel or once off open HD and enjoy national tv for free while tackling real challenges in your life and better yourself.
The only subscription we recommend here in LnM is Audible not Netflix, in audible you can get audio books of personal development and improve your current situation. Or use YouTube for free just by buying a small data , personally since 2018 nothing entertain me more than learning to the point that’s I thought maybe sometimes I need to stay back a bit and revise the information I have learned and try to apply it in my life. Although I have had some success so far but my learning is above my actual life outcome.
Uniforms here are the best recommendation; you can live happily and well respected while wearing Mr. Price clothes or HnM but all you have to do is to keep them clean. Like every young person we get obsessed with cloths and this is just a way to get social validation from our friend but at our parent’s expense.
The best practice a parent can give is teaching his/her kid to not get anything they want ,especially don’t give them luxury at an earlier age that’s will end up going to their head and make them feel entitled while they still don’t know how to work for this things.
I like to make examples with myself ,so I taught my nephews to save money and if someone borrow it charge them interest ,but so far I have failed to teach them assets which are things they can buy that’s will make them more money. Clothes are valuable if you sell them and them represent your brand, so we encourage that’s but be mindful it’s a challenging industry.
Lot of lame friends
Having a lot of friends won’t do you any good unless its quality people and once the number is high that’s friendship won’t be effective so try to have a handful of people you call friends. I knew a guy who I thought we came a long way, I didn’t consider him much of a friend because I already have a best friend so he was just a friend or acquaintance we had something in common and if we didn’t talk about that’s thing we were totally different people.
But there is something he did that’s I took lightly at 1st but later I realize I cannot keep this guy very close today I’m really keeping my distance from that’s guy. So for you reading you don’t need to go through the same thing ,study people and see their actions ,if they do one of the member in a group wrong like backstabbing or gossiping they could possibly do it to you let alone a friend that’s can sleep with people’s exes that’s a homerun for a red flag.
Keep handful of friends really valuable people ,people you can count on and who can count on you and try not to test people in anyway act in a time of need because people they can sense if they are not trusted.
Low paying and uninspiring job
Little reason’s to stay a certain job, pay or its potential to pay well or if you enjoy doing that’s job or lastly its cause or mission is bigger than all of us. At work you should not worry about what’s other’s think because that’s will lead to mod mentality and yourl end up being average.
The perks and benefits shouldn’t be the defining factor when you pick a job because you going to spend your whole life there, doing that’s thing. Consider the environment the people the leader and the team spirit, be the best version of yourself when you at work and crush it every time they watch result , if you could find a job where you can be yourself in it and have a positive attitude most of the time that’s will be the winner.
But not all jobs are like this other jobs are for you to get yourself from the ground up. Don’t look at your paycheck as fruit of your labor but look at it as a ladder to a better life, meaning you won’t use all the money on bills but you will think of saving and starting a business and investing on assets. You will buy books and attend conferences and take those lessons’s and put them into good use.
Luxury house, car earlier on
You and I shouldn’t buy luxury the moment we can afford to make the monthly payments, this is my mindset I cannot do a debt that’s will leave me vulnerable to options. House mortgages are 15 to 30 years payment every month car is 5 years unless I buy this things in cash. At some point I know I can buy them in cash so the discipline I need to have to raise this money from my job I will apply.
I don’t know how other people operate but if this job is all you have or you can get the job elsewhere but you still going to need the blessings of the present job to move, what’s if one day you have to challenge your boss because he is breaking certain laws of the company and it will affect your job. Knowing you have kids and house and a car that’s needs monthly payment you have two options challenge him and be at risk of losing that’s job or maybe he may understand and change his ways. Or let it slide and always compromise because of the luxuries you don’t want to lose.
I learnt very well in 2014 that’s money is important to have it in the bank ,than anything tangible ,that’s year I lost my well paying job but I had a lot of money and no luxuries yet but I was planning to get one the following year cash. Forget about fica credits score myths and the ability to borrow that’s shouldn’t be your problem, you should teach yourself how to leverage debt or don’t take it if you scared of taking risks and can’t manage your own money.
