7 Points Checklists every upcoming artist should: Tick after the Show/ event

1 How did I perform today?

It’s important to rate yourself say out of 10, when below 5 is bad and above is great why this is important? So that you will see where you need to improve because if you do an average performance consistently promoters will notice and see that’s they don’t get return on their investment and stop inviting you to their shows. So you need to take responsibility of your performance, don’t make excuses like I performed after so and so that’s why or that’s was a gqom fans and I do hip hop, it’s really doesn’t matter if you did your best people would’ve interacted with you. So this is the 1st point you need to tick on your list. Just to add if you can do this to almost everything you do, you will see your performance will improve and most of the things you do will have a massive payoff.

I want to emphasize this , cause music artists make this mistake never take any performance for granted or want unnecessary special treatment in other events ,instead of doing what’s you came to do ,event come to a standstill because you are about to perform ,No please be organized and try to keep the party and fun going ,Lastly when you are starting to get paid for your gigs or becoming well known be human ,don’t make face at your deejay when he makes mistakes but help him out by filling the gaps ,I repeat don’t rush to perform and take your money and leave if you going to be a celebrity get used to having your life celebrated know there will be time for pictures with people and network but more about that’s on the following points

2. What’s Valuable contact did I make today?

Let’s assume as of reading this article you are a solo artist or a band but you don’t have a manager, who will pull strings for you or maybe there are acts you will see and like to work with , a photographer maybe see if you play your cards rights you can build the whole team along the way so take numbers and use them from social media , but in real life their more effective I might have said this before but we did a huge song with Shon G , we met once after a while wishing to work with him as he is a legend in KZN and my dream became a reality and bonus was seeing the guy making this song as his number 1 song. SO don’t be scared of talking to people most of them will be nice to you, use your past hustle to make them interested but please don’t make empty promises, that’s your reputation.

3. Who killed the crowd and how?

Tick the best performers, of the day and every time you attend even yourself if you did a great job that’s day. We not say copy their moves but energy wise, microphone techniques and how they approach a stage just take note more than turning to being a fan yourself. Maybe he has a Dj that’s do amazing things and maybe you don’t have a Dj and you always use your friend or something get professional and even help the Dj you use get paid because he is part of your crew, add dancers and all or eventually people will realize you are a fraud and stop booking you, so be real and treat yourself as such. Please while taking notes realize if your style is not like of someone mainstream too much like when you on stage instead of people appreciating your craft ,they might say things like ,you like so and so .That’s normally not a great compliment because that’s artist is outshining you. I know being an artist is being creative and others go overboard and do crazy things while on stage that’s fine if its compliments the songs and all but check if you not making fool of yourself and if there’s connection in what’s you do.

4. Are you’re Lyrics and sing along catchy?

You are trying to get people to say something and it’s too complex and deep down fans are asking are you out of your mind we are not you loll , look I’m not discouraging here see Bhut Tizozo is a master of this all his verses really interact with a crowd so pay attention to people like that’s. And to have an advantage like other big artists make your song famous, don’t ask us how we have a small book out there on Amazon store check it out titled MUSIC INSIDER by ULwaz No Makhula its has all the contacts and we will update it soon because we are also planning to be heard on radio ASAP. SO back to the point, check if what’s you ask people to say is easy, and in what’s I have touched above the stage approach, if you can find a way to take fans by surprise in your performance and introduce yourself within your set without cutting off the sound and make that’s awkward moment that’s will be a big up.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

5. Did I leave any impression?

This one works well when there is media, but any attention and grand act you can do to be not forgotten after that’s event is important, just leave your mark and plan it if necessary its can be anything ,but nothing too controversial . E.g. if you sing a love song try to get a lady to join you on stage, move within the crowd if the microphone unless someone do that’s 1st or just kill a crowd the usual way you do. Making an example with Malwazela he’s not famous but when you put him on stage he leaves impression and that’s why it’s easy for me to remember him ,and Merel the guy never miss a bar and always uses his language isiZulu but anyone can feel his energy in KZN he is the best performer and he doesn’t force a thing ,he prepares well his sets are always on point.

6.  How do I actually look?

Dress code, very important groups have an advantage when it comes to this but you too can have a way to look and have it match your stage performance,if you perform crap dress accordingly loll  just kidding but serious dress to kill man and that’s will be your 1st impression ,ULwaz No Makhula it’s the only thing that’s usually make them stand out how they present themselves. We go to guys and pay for cloths with names written what we are pushing at the moment. In Hip hop some rappers can be dirty and that’s not how it’s supposed to be as an artist you should try by all means to look apart because you at work so treat it as such. Here what’s this does for you people take you seriously for us its came to the point where people knew we are charge for our performances because we invest so much in our brand ,clothes ,photo shoots ,music videos and 10000s  posts so people know this guys are working. So after every show look at yourself were you the artist you will be happy to meet and give a hug too or you were just a normal dirty person who can sing.

Example of lists

7. How long did I stay on stage?

Here in South Africa you not given much time on stage, in Durban particularly you don’t need much time because you can end up ruining your own performance unless it’s a one man show. Don’t over perform set a reasonable 10 to 15 minutes and do your thing , 2 tracks if there is a big lineup is enough and think for your fellow artists as well and I want to say this try to be open to other artists at least greet them ,you are a family not a competition necessarily you just happen to fight for the same bookings but features and all should be in place so ,not connecting with people is really a handicap everyone should work on in this internet age of social media and earphones, people make things happen for you so try to get along with them into a certain extent. So don’t waste other Dj time when they want to put their set ,bab uMjay from Eyadini call it umona when Deejays do this so please if you read our content please don’t disappoint us.

Well this is it for today you made a great investment and learning this things ,apart from stage fright you will be fine and this is our good byes see you tomorrow on LnM. Thank you.

How to make life worth it (Artists & as a Person)

Hi todays article is based on my life experience and knowledge I have acquired and I’m not trying to be absolute and controversial but having a view on life is the best state to be at because most people and musicians drifts through life without an awareness of what’s going on outside and within them in their minds and life. Others think life is hard or is how to be certain way and other spend their days sitting around the tuck shops and showing not eager to win at life and become something of themselves so today we wish to open your eyes at least by an inch and make you see you could be someone better not someone average and who is a normal rapper who will quite after getting a 9-5 job.

  • 1 Get out of a crowds and negative routines.

You might be a lady , you normally have girls together and say you enjoy life with other girls your age and drink alcohol and have a blast that’s good but is that’s aligned with your life goals and purpose?

We not trying to change anyone here but let’s do an experiment here if your birthday is so important then every year you have a massive loss in a form of investment in this day and if you don’t have cash that’s time you go to debt because this is a once in a year situation right? Wrong look you need to get out of the bubble and realize you aren’t getting any younger and start curving a purpose for yourself and invest on that’s and become the best version of yourself ,that’s may mean changing that’s circle of friends and those drinking habits. Because if there is 10 of you ,you guys do this 10 times or more per year and already behind by a mile compare to someone who reads books and watch great YouTube channels to help him/her sane. I recommend Channels like @ALUX.COM on YouTube and SUCCESSTV (with red and black logo and VALUETAINMENT for you to start on this path of success and make your life worth it.

  • 2 Don’t binge social media limit yourself in it?

Even if you market something on places like Facebook, twitter, instar, tiktok and more have it on a system and have a room for your sanity and loneliness where you can think and meditate or hit some pushups. Just condition yourself and I want to advice you something take the pain of boredom and experience it so where you get a chance to go out there and live life, work and so on you will grab it with both hands and be gratitude. Today I learn that’s Lockdown is happening for the second time and I’m writing this as a grateful person cause I’m in the zone and I’m using this time to help my fellow human kind like me in this noisy culture we living in. Key of this point don’t let your bad behavior get all over you without a fight , challenge them in short , challenge your mind and tell it what’s to do and not be told by it all the time. Take control of your life and start building yourself good habits. If you take this and try it, it’s going to be hard but don’t swear it. Just improve and create strategies to deal with your anxieties and times where you feel a bit depressed. Today Mphako’s Video played on Mtv Base and this positive thing made me realize through our talent and hobby we have inspired kids from my neighborhood because they saw it and talked about it, instead of a negative event of guys stealing cars or robbery which shows another side of life which is not good for society.

If you don’t learn from history , yourl be stuck in the past

  • 3 Be curious of how things come to be.

For me knowing I can always learn something new makes my life worth it, in some aspect of my life I might have to improve but knowledge acquiring I have become way better and I’m proud of that’s .If you can follow the channels I recommended on YouTube and try to avoid looking at topics that’s won’t help you and focus on those in line with how you can better yourself then your curiosity will be filled day by day. All I ask is for you to take action on actionable steps we suggest or reading this won’t help you .last channel I forgot is Grand cardone see you don’t have to take every advice they give but 1% will change your life and view of life .

We are aware of the situation of Covid 19 and Please stay home

  • 4 Try all the things that’s has a potential to better your life.

I grow up knowing and thinking school is the only thing needed to better my life but now I know knowledge and how to do something is what’s will change my life. It’s doesn’t matter if I got it in college or online school for as long as I can do it I’m good to go. To my second point jobs in South Africa require some sort of diploma or degree to get employed and be in a position but that’s can be limiting to other things other people want to do with their lives, Books have more information than what universities offer but you need to be disciplined to be able to do it by yourself but you can try if you don’t have money to pay tuition fee just buy data and get busy download free pdfs and so on. I can’t wait to be rich to share this kind of information Couse that’s certain it’s going to happen and by then I might not have time to write like this .SO try to get things you want in many ways, we live in the world that’s is runned and operates with money meaning money of the important of things should be on top, to the point that’s you should be weary of someone asking you to do something for free.

  • 5 Having family as important as them not interfering to your personal life

Family has been portrayed as the most important aspect of life and I agree but I want to and that’s you should be able to survive if they all die at the same time and you luckily made it. I know this example is extreme but this point only means be your own person and try to have a conversation with your family to let you try doing things differently your own way for as long as it’s not killing people or anything that’s is not striving to better yourself. In the start of 2018 I decided to stop watching TV and payoff has been amazing because things I think about lately are really mind-blowing and they are aligned with my life purpose and cause ,I don’t think much about news and episodes playing on TV because they really not going to help me in anyway. I got a job and I had to live inside my work, so normal person would want to buy a TV the moment they arrive for me it was a blessing in disguise being there, I focused on my healthy eating because at home it’s hard the kind of food they cook is not good in a long run. There was no distractions from my reading and gym. Now I’m back home because I could use freedom and my brother needed the job more than I did and my secret is I still spend most of my time in my room and with my friends on whatsapp who happens to be number 1 customers of my beats and who visits my blog so I’m grateful.

What are 5 things that artists do right?

Hunger

Dedication

Learning

This one was obvious for me today looking at posts on face book of people trying to make money out of artists by saying what’s they do wrong and what’s they should do. You see I’m an artist and I get offended when this fake PR talk all they want on social media and this gurus want to be and take a picture with a Celebrity so it will seems like they know what’s their talking about. So this is my heads-up to everyone watching this channel at the moment we not planning to ask money from you and when or if we decide to do so it will come from a place of virtue and principles and respect we have for people… I don’t see you as a number or a like that why we can bump in to each other and talk although tension will be there but that normal .If you as a rapper or Kwaito or house Dj feel like you cannot trust a person claiming to know much about your industry trust your guts and don’t do business with him/her.

Apologies for that long intro let’s get down to business, what’s we did right when we started out and what’s you doing right already. Before I jump to it ,it’s important to remind you to subscribe to our channel by clicking that red subscribe button maybe you’ve been here before and thought yourl never come back here you are and we resonate with you give us a shot . LnM Show by ULwaz No Makhula we not gurus we artists you can check us out ,our songs and Music Video we share insight in terms of our experience and knowledge.

  1. Artists and Producers like to improve themselves.

You see maybe not everyone but every producer I know took some time to master his craft and everyone following will do the same ,it’s become natural it a must to learn new tricks as a Producer listening to other beat makers and mixing engineers doing amazing stuff you say I gatta learn that and you do. Watch Tutorials, read some notes or purely experiment. So I want to congratulate producers keep up the good work. I don’t know what’s value you will find in this episode but for me I felt the need of gratitude hope yourl learn what’s to do as well if you just starting out. Artists improve their writing and they can be conscious of their content and try to deliver what’s people can understand we want to say great work guys that the way. I remember the group from eNanda called double 7 , decided to feature Mphako on a track and after past years of beef and it got squashed a hardcore track was going to create some subliminal so they did a great concept about amaphupho meaning dreams they want to achieve in music which became a huge track featuring a vocalist that what’s industry needs bafwethu  keep it up.

  • 2 Matured artists know the right people and use them.

This is the big boys stuff, you see moving to point number one this one come to mature everything I just mentioned basically Point number 1 is just to reduce work and be able to be independent, this one makes you a master because you know who write you a song, who mixes it, who master it and who distribute it then your job becomes recording it only then lets the pros take off the load on your back. We encourage you to become matured quickly and don’t try to be anything only focuses on that thing that has higher upside.

Take risks , study people your better life depends on it.

  • 3 Some artists master the skill of performance.

In this one I’m guilty, how do you do this it’s simple but not easy. Here is how I did it if I know I have a new songs that I would love people to see me perform I practice them every night until the day of performance come. I open the beat read my script and recite my verses song by song put my verses aside until I know the songs well without a script ,and then Il sung them during the day at work in my head  just keep track of them. On that I stand up act like there’s mic on my hand and picture the crowd of people singing with me .After all this I’m 99% that I’m going to kill the crowd in kwaito is so easy master the dance moves lyrics is just 4 lines repeated so yah not all artists only few with unknown songs master this but we celebrate their hard work today syabonga.

  • 4 Artists Respects one another.

Here is what’s I like about our music community we know one another and we respect one another. We see beefs on mainstream but we know it’s for show business so you know deep down they know each other’s place. We may be criticized because we used drugs sometimes but we rarely try to harm one another it’s only a healthy competition in everything we do. Even those beefs and diss don’t reach physical fights so we should appreciate that behavior and encourage it to keep going. Respect and Trust goes a long way in every society but we know some categories of the industry tries to separates up , like media and companies as well as awards nowadays the aim behind them is fortune and bribery that why mostly we don’t participate because drama may not good for our physo even if its seems to be good for business but sleeping at night is much better.

  • 5  Value the platforms they’re given.

We might have an ego or pride now or realization of not wanting to perform for free but every stage we got back then was a hope of getting a recognition but that no longer a case, but as artists we value the platforms we are given and we don’t take them for granted so I want to give thumps up to artists who really show appreciation to people who give them platform. And those who exploit artists shame on you. But as a rule of thumb it’s important to give that community radio at least R50 because you don’t know what’s they give him so yah .humility play a huge role in anyone’s life. Look after people who look after you and when it’s strictly business don’t mix it with pleasure.

It has come to the part I hate the most , of leaving now assuming there is a kid who watched this video as well I want to tell you boy or girl life is not bad things only and it’s not good things only but you have to try a look for the good and make more of it , having money is good so be aware now people with no money and don’t take their advice to heart about money than those with money listen attentively ,this applies to music don’t mind a manager who doesn’t have a track record of managing successful artists and thinks he can tell you or she can tell you something. Do your thing and take advice from experts and people who are where you want to be. Now I didn’t say press a notification bell so please do and don’t forget to follow us on all social media as ULwaz No Makhula this is LnM show its time for that Bonus.

  • 6 They can open doors for one another without expecting recognition.

If artists were another form of species I would’ve said most of them they are incredible species, as much as we don’t do this often but it does happen, we Saw Zakwe putting on Duncan and Zuluboy putting Zakwe and so on, in Gospel Thina Zungu been putting artists .Dj Tira has a huge successful company as well as Oskido till this day they put on artists to help them feed their families with talent god has given them. Only thing we want to add to our friends don’t expect this as your strategy to succeed put in the work and look for your own path to success hope this episode wasn’t that lame but valuable and its show that in life and media there is less Thank you and appreciation of what’s we have achieved as human being, they push the negative stuff only that why we recommend if you are an artist you must not watch TV and listen to radio. You cannot be a actor and a spectator choose a side Thanks, goodbye.
